WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
Our pioneering approach building with a conscience is finding ways to bring new life to old materials, reducing the need for energy by reducing size and promoting recycled and renewable materials when resources are required. Up-cycling and adaptive re-use of shipping containers is our most recognizable trademark building material, but we also promote structural solutions, insulation options and finishing materials with smaller carbon footprints than the standards promoted by other designers and builders. We work closely with our clients to provide solutions that provide forward thinking solutions, balance comfort and function, and sit "gently" upon the earth. WHY WE DO IT
Time and again, it seems like our future pays for the mistakes we make today. We recognize that many wasteful transgressions are committed in the name of expedience, convenience and cost savings. We avoid programs of low integrity, environmental destruction, and gross over scaling. We prefer to work with individuals and communities that value a personal, well considered approach to design that align with our principals and integrity. As a result, the majority of our work is in the residential design sector, both single family and multifamily dwellings. WHAT WE DO
Zigloo Studio explores design concepts that include low impact foundation structures, scalable, modular housing solutions and multigenerational community strategies to advance the fields of architectural design, community planning and urban design for future generations. HOW WE DO IT
Our use of cutting edge 3D design tools, online services and video presentation methods mean that we are capable of entertaining clients from all over the world. We have projects that stretch across North and Central America, and overseas in Europe, Asia and Africa. OTHER THINGS WE HAVE DONE
Our shipping container structures have garnered multiple accolades from the environmental community. We have been featured on Radio, TV and print media all over the world. Websites such as INHABITAT, HOUSEPORN and HUFFINGTON POST have featured Zigloo Studio's work. We have been invited to feature our projects at the 2011 Pacific National Exhibition's "Green Zone". We have participated in international design charrettes and gallery showings featuring sustainable living designs and concepts. Part of our community service agenda includes donating all the proceeds from our Freedom Container Cabin Design Package to a housing program called "Kool-Aid" in Victoria BC. |
